EMS-CB — Battery storage control for commercial buildings.
EMS-CB · Battery in a building

EMS for Commercial Building Battery Storage

Battery storage control for commercial buildings. Lifts, laboratories, wards and servers stay on line through a supply failure because the battery assumes the load at the instant it is lost. Between events the same battery is charged in low-tariff windows and discharged in peak ones, and holds demand below the level your capacity contract is written at.

What EMS-CB is

Ingro EMS-CB is an energy management system for battery storage in occupied commercial buildings. It controls the battery system and the incoming supply, riding through interruptions without disturbance and working the tariff between them.

What EMS-CB Controls

The assets on the site, and the controller that decides between them.

The building

a school, a hospital, an office

The supply

metered and billed

A hospital holds back a larger reserve than an office. The reserve is a setting, not different hardware.

What it does for the business

The Outcomes EMS-CB Delivers

Uninterrupted operation through supply failures — lifts, laboratories, wards and servers stay on line.

A configurable backup reserve — minutes for a changeover, or hours of autonomous running.

Charged in low-tariff windows and discharged in peak windows, configured to your tariff structure.

Demand held below a configured limit, keeping the demand charge at its contracted level.

EMS-CB in three lines

  • Seamless backup through outages
  • Reserve sized to the building
  • Time-of-use charging

Common questions

EMS-CB, Answered

How much backup does a building EMS hold in reserve?

As much as you configure. The reserve floor is the proportion of usable battery capacity held apart from commercial operation for continuity — minutes for a changeover in an office, or hours of autonomous running in a hospital. It is a setting on the same hardware, revised as the building accumulates its own data.

Can battery storage in a building both earn and back up?

Yes, and the split is explicit. Capacity above the reserve floor works the tariff — charging in low-tariff windows, discharging in peak ones, holding demand below its ceiling. Capacity below the floor is untouched by commercial operation and is there for the next interruption.

Does this replace the building's UPS?

It depends on the class of changeover your process requires. EMS-CB assumes the load at the instant supply is lost, which covers most building loads; equipment that cannot tolerate any break at all is still served by its own UPS, with the battery carrying the building behind it.

Scope of delivery

Four Elements, Quoted as One Item

Every configuration is delivered the same way: the controller installed and commissioned, the app, a monthly report pack for finance, lenders and auditors, and training for the operating team — all included in the delivered price.

1

The controller

Wired, configured and commissioned against your plant, and installed in the plant room. It is the component that operates the site.

2

The operator console

A single-line representation of the actual plant with live power on every feeder, the state of each source, the alarm register, and the endurance available at the load currently being carried.

3

The mobile view

Read-only, for management rather than operations: whether the site is sound, what it has saved, what has occurred and what is scheduled.

4

Reporting and training

The reporting suite, generated and distributed automatically, and instruction for the personnel who will operate the plant.

Runs autonomously

Site control continues with no internet connection — the controller operates the plant from the plant room.

Equipment-agnostic

Integrates any make of inverter, battery, converter or generator. A model not previously encountered is added as configuration.

Expands by licence

Adding an asset is a configuration change, not new hardware.

Four Answers, and We Scope Your Plant

We return a scope of supply, an equipment schedule and an indicative programme, written against the outcomes you set.

What is on site today

Generation, storage, standby generation and the connection, as they stand today.

What is already ordered

Anything ordered or contractually committed; anything still open, we can specify.

The outcomes required

The energy bill, the fuel, continuity of production, or all three, in order of priority.

The utility connection

Remaining, being withdrawn, or never present. This determines how much of the night storage is required to own, and how the plant is sized.
