Battery storage · India
The power conversion system (PCS) is the bidirectional inverter between the battery's DC and the site's AC: it charges the battery from the grid or solar and discharges it back. It sets how fast the battery can respond and whether the system can keep a site running when the grid fails. The companies below supply PCS for Indian projects, from C&I cabinets to grid-scale plants.

The PCS moves power at whatever setpoint it is given; the EMS works out what that setpoint should be. Ingro EMS sends real and reactive power commands to the PCS over open protocols, taking into account the battery's state from the BMS, the solar output and the grid meter.
Ingro EMS is a made-in-India battery energy management system: one controller on site that runs battery storage, solar, diesel and the grid against your tariff, with a console and reports you can watch on a screen or your phone. It talks to equipment over open protocols such as Modbus TCP/RTU, CAN, IEC 61850 and IEC 60870-5-104, so it is not tied to any one brand on this list.

It converts power both ways between the battery's DC and the AC grid, and it controls how much power flows and in which direction. Without a PCS, a battery cannot charge from or supply an AC network.
They are related but not the same. A solar inverter only converts DC to AC in one direction. A PCS is bidirectional so it can also charge the battery. Hybrid inverters combine both roles for smaller systems.
